As usual, the idea for this journal came from a conversation with a friend. Out of nowhere, in a middle of a conversation an old friend of mine just told me his all-time top 10 favorite albums(but we were talking about the movie JENDRAL NAGABONAR earlier, teu nyambung heueuh?). When he finally stopped babbling, the next thing he asked me is "what's yours?"

...an easy question, now it's my turn to babble. Here's my all-time top 10 favorite albums up to now.  


10. Coldplay - Parachutes
I remember the first time I listen to this, the songs kinda pierces my soul. The songs are so inspiring, that it literally cures your artblock. Too bad they 2nd album is far from my expectations.

9. Tohpati - Serampang Samba
His guitar songs kinda makes you dream about Indonesian beautiful women, cultures, scenery and... ok i'll say it again, women. It gives you the chills you get when you get to Bukit Tinggi highlands and brings you the warmth of the Tea Farm in Puncak. His "Layang-layang" song even makes you feel like you're riding a kite.

8. Tokyo Jihen - Adult
A pretty good album, but some of the songs are so great, so creative that I think that they are the real modern-day japan band should be. They kinda bring all the modern day jazzy, pop, and rock genres into their song; and combine it w/ an old school japanese traditional culture sound. Superb.

7. Jubing Kristianto - Becak Fantasy
It's the BGM for your life if you ever come to Indonesia. Hands down.

6. Tahiti 80 - Wallpaper For The Soul
I  first listened this album when I had one of my most beautiful summer vacation trips ever, i got it from my brother who happens to hate this album(surely we don't exactly have the same taste for music). I was so in love w/ this album that whenever i listen to it, i'm kinda re-living that beautiful summer vacation all over again, even when i'm in a middle of a uber-boring work.

5. Metallica - Black Album     
Metallica is THE BEST ROCK BAND EVER. PERIOD.

4. Plastik - Insting Psiko dan Harmoni
Plastik is a superb 90's Indonesian Band, they had all the creativity that made all 21st century Indonesian bands look like a bunch of no-brainers. Here's 7 words for Plastik "WHY DO YOU HAVE TO DISBAND!? WHY!!!??"

3. Homogenic - Epic Symphony
This album simply blows my mind. Listen to it and close your eyes, the songs kinda takes you to the future, fly you up to the skies, and dives you down to the ocean. Simple, elegant, and beautiful.

2. Rage Against The Machine - 1st album
Rage Against The Machine is one of my all-time favorite bands ever. This one album is simply wicked cool. It has all the elements creativity of the 90's hip metal songs. Almost ALL of the songs in this album is musical masterpieces, songs that I'll remember like... forever. TWO THUMBS UP RATM!!!

And finally... the pole position goes to.....

1. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
This is an AMAZINGLY COOL ALBUM that words just cannot describe. I had a constant diarrhea out of listening shit emo songs, j-rock faggots, and local mushy-mushy love pops (which i totally think that they are a bunch of gays) that practically makes you wanna vomit everything you had for breakfast and lunch back in 2005. That's when i first heard this album, it has all the cure i need; out-of-the-box creative songs, uber cool lyrics, the spirit-pumping bass-drum-guitar-vocal composition. everything. As I said, words just cannot describe.



phew... that's a good 45 minutes of me babbling. Which is equivalent to about Rp.2500,- in an internet cafe. Which is equivalent to two and a half cent in US Dollar. Which is equivalent to.....

.....45 minutes of me wasting time. A good time, though.

And oh yeah i almost forgot! HAPPY EID AL FITR EVERYONE!
